Can I book for a special occasion?
Absolutely. Anniversaries, birthdays and celebrations are very welcome, and our team is happy to add small touches such as candles with dessert. Please mention the occasion at the time of booking.
When is Rubens open?
Monday and Tuesday we are open for dinner only, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Wednesday through to Sunday we are open for lunch from midday to 3:00 pm, and again for dinner from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Are you open on public holidays?
Rubens may be closed on public holidays. Please telephone us on
03 5348 2843 before travelling so that we can confirm our trading hours for that particular day.
Where exactly are you located?
Rubens is at 70 Main Road, Hepburn Springs, Victoria 3461, situated on the main road between Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. We are an easy drive from Melbourne and simple to find.

Yes, there is parking available at the restaurant on Main Road.
What style of food do you serve?
Rubens serves Mediterranean style cuisine, including house-made pasta and gnocchi, risotto, seafood, char-grilled steak, gourmet pizza and desserts made on the premises.
What is the dining atmosphere like?
The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, with table service throughout. You may dine outside in our al-fresco area with bush views, or settle in beside the log fire indoors during the cooler months.
Are your desserts made in-house?
Yes, all of our desserts are hand-made on the premises. Favourites include the Zeppoli Italian doughnuts, sticky date pudding, Ruben’s lemon cheesecake and our tiramisu.
Do you offer gluten free options?
Yes, gluten free options are available for an additional $4.00, including a gluten free pizza base. Please note that our gluten free bases contain soy and milk products. Gluten free options are also available on request for our pasta and risotto dishes.
