We've built a room where families and friends can relax without anyone rushing them out the door. Warm log fires in winter, shaded al-fresco tables overlooking the bush in summer - Rubens is a year-round destination for Daylesford visitors and locals alike.

Our Mediterranean-inspired menu celebrates honest cooking: hand-rolled gnocchi, wood-fired pizzas with quality toppings, fresh seafood pasta, and house-made desserts. Something for every age and appetite.

Italian Restaurant in Daylesford

Just a few minutes from Daylesford, Rubens Restaurant in Hepburn Springs has been feeding locals and travellers from the same spot on Main Road for a very long time. Our Mediterranean kitchen has a strong Italian heart, inspired by the Swiss Italian families who settled in the Hepburn hills during the 1850s gold rush.

Gnocchi is rolled by hand and our sauces are made from scratch in the kitchen each day. The menu brings together house-made pasta and risotto, seafood, char-grilled eye fillet and 16 gourmet pizzas. Local producers appear throughout, with Istra chorizo and prosciutto from Musk, Meredith goat's cheese and coffee roasted in Castlemaine. Enjoy a glass from our wine list with your meal, then finish with a dessert made on the premises, such as Zeppoli Italian donuts or our tiramisu.

In the cooler months, settle in beside the log fire. When the weather warms up, take a table on the deck with views over the bush. Our table service lets you enjoy a long family lunch or a slow birthday dinner without feeling rushed. Celebrating something special? When is Rubens open?

Monday and Tuesday we are open for dinner only, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Wednesday through to Sunday we are open for lunch from midday to 3:00 pm, and again for dinner from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
